Oro Gutta percha is a material used extensively in dentistry, particularly in endodontics for obturation. It is a natural thermoplastic material used in dentistry is as a root canal filling material. After the pulp of a tooth is removed during a root canal procedure to treat infection or decay, the Gutta percha stick is heated and compacted into the root canal space to form a tight seal to prevent reinfection. It is biocompatible and has excellent thermal insulation which helps to prevent sensitivity to heat or cold. It is dimensionally stable hence offers minimal shrinkage upon cooling.
